Daniel Abbott:  Senior Lead Teacher 
Daniel is from North Carolina and holds a B.A in Communication Science and Spanish from UNC-Greensboro. He completed the Montessori 3-6 Primary training program in 2010 obtaining his AMS certification. Daniel is the Lead teacher of the La Casa I classroom. Daniel has studied, as well as, taught in Spain with the Ministry of Science and Education in an English immersion setting for children 5-7 years old. He is committed to the immersion method of language acquisition and enjoys working with children who start at an even younger age. He is dedicated to Education as his career path and plans on pursing graduate studies at a later time. Outside of teaching, he enjoys local music and the arts, traveling, gardening, and learning new languages.
 
Maria Elena Bustos Davila: Junior Lead Teacher         
Maria Elena Bustos is from Nicaragua, where she received a scholarship to obtain full national accreditation as a primary school teacher. As a teacher Maria Elena has worked in both the public and private education systems in both urban and rural settings in Nicaragua. She went on to study for a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature and Pedagogy before coming to the US with her husband, a Masters student at Duke. Maria is dedicated to being a teacher, is very interested in the Montessori approach to education, and is also currently working on her 3-6 AMS certification. Maria loves bowling, dancing and watching movies with her husband and friends.

Daniela Lagos: Junior Lead Teacher 
Daniela Lagos is from Chile and holds a university degree in Psychology. She has worked with children of various ages in both rural and urban schools. Daniela has worked in the Chilean school system with both children and adults on the autism spectrum. She enjoys learning and improving and is eager to explore new teaching methods and ways to interact with children and families. Daniela is currently completing her 3-6 AMS certification.
 
Raisa Batista: Assistant Teacher
Raisa is the Montessori Intern in La Casa 2. She has a Bachelor's degree in Public Relationss & Advertisemtn. she speaks fluent Spanish and English. She is from Guaynabo, Puertro Rico but has also lived in Miami. Outside of school she enjoys reading, writing and cooking.

Mariana (Mira) Talpau Joos: Co-Lead Teacher
Mira Joos is a native Romanian and a French national. She holds a Masters degree in Applied Foreign Languages and an undergraduate degree in French Linguistics and Literature. Mira completed her Montessori 3-6 AMS certification last year. She taught French in Sweden and Switzerland before she and her husband moved to Louisiana. For six years, she has worked as a French, Physical Education and Enrichment teacher in public schools. Besides her dedication to students, Mira maintains active involvement with the community which she views as a key contributor to its educational foundation. Mira loves yoga, contemporary dance, blues music and hiking. As an educator, she is continually learning so that her teaching is always fresh and dynamic.

 
Nathalie Cook: Co-Lead Lead Teacher
Nathalie is the Junior Lead Montessori Teacher in La Maison. She has her Certificate in Montessori Teaching from London Montessori Centre. She is fluent in French and English. She is from Switzerland. Outside of school she enjoys jewelry making.










 

Jasmine McKewen: AssistantTeacher
Jasmine is a Montessori Intern in La Maison. She has a Master’s Degree in French and has completed part of her PhD Work in Comparative Literature. She speaks fluent French and Spanish. She was born in Australia and grew up in Middletown, New York. Outside of school she enjoys playing the flute and doing cartwheels.

Maria Lucia Bernal Quintero:
Intern Montessori Teacher

María-Lucia is the Montessori Intern for the La Casa Full Day program. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked for five years as a Primary Teacher in Colombia, where she is from. She speaks fluent Spanish and English. Outside of School she enjoys the outdoors, yoga, reading, sewing and DIY crafts.


 
Soledad Gomez: Full Day La Casa assistant teacher
She is from Chile, but has lived in Argentina, Peru, Sweden, Canada, and Mexico. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. OUtside of school she enjoys the outdoors and traveling. She is also very proud of her children's academic accomplishments.
