IMS Community,
IMS will run an Emergency Drill tomorrow, Wednesday, January 16th and it will be campus-wide. It will test our emergency procedures as they relate to any type of menace on campus, such as extreme weather, a stray animal or an unknown person. The response to any of these is to move all students, staff and visitors to a safe area where they can take shelter. Thus, tomorrow we will drill two of our Emergency Plans, one immediately after the other: the Emergency Move Inside Plan and the Emergency Shelter-in-Place Plan.
As you may have noticed by the above description, the language IMS is using in our emergency plans has changed subtlety. While IMS diligently continues to adopt/review policies and plans to protect students, staff and visitors of our school from situations that might menace us, we have adopted more neutral and positive language in planning, preparing, describing and executing our emergency plans. We encourage the IMS community to embrace this philosophy and avoid using disturbing terminology or concepts with children who are too young to understand.
Regards,
IMS Administration.
