Inclement Weather Policy

[weather_display] In general, IMS follows the Durham School System decisions
for closings and delays. These announcements are most easily found on the WRAL TV Website or television (Channel 5) and WUNC Radio (91.5FM).

There are times, however, when International Montessori School does NOT follow the Durham School System inclement weather policy. This occurs when their decisions are made primarily due to busing concerns, which do not affect the majority of our families. When we have made this decision in the past, it has been on a third or fourth snow day when the public schools are required to still stay closed yet we can open. We encourage all families to make their own decisions involving driving in adverse weather conditions. Staying home is often the safest choice.

Between 8 pm the night before and 6:15 am the day of, the inclement weather announcement concerning changes in that day’s schedule will be posted on the School’s website: and on the office phone message. However, if there are wide spread power outages, then one or any of these methods of communication may not function. Given these conditions, in all likelihood, the school will be closed.

For inclement weather beginning while the children are already at School, we will post updates on the website every half-hour to hour depending on the severity of the situation.
